Our Story
Handcrafted wine, Rooted in Community
Every August through September, the community comes together at Brandywine Creek to help Dr. Gene Baker hand-harvest the vineyards. From grape to glass, the journey is a labor of love: crushing, pressing, fermenting, and bottling each batch before it graces the tasting room shelves. Though the process is intensive, Brandywine Creek takes pride in its award-winning wines and the personal touch infused into every bottle.
With five acres of lush vineyards, Brandywine Creek produces 12 tons of grapes annually, yielding over 2,500 cases of wine. Visitors can sample 18 varietals in the cozy public tasting room, located just outside Indianapolis. In the summer, the outdoor patio nestled among the vines is a favorite spot for wine lovers of all ages. Year-round, the tasting room buzzes with tastings, live music, and special events every weekend.
Founded by Dr. Gene Baker, a beloved family physician for over 35 years, Brandywine Creek is a reflection of his commitment to the community he served. After retiring in 2017, Dr. Baker returned to his roots, cultivating a small vineyard on his Shelby County homestead. His passion soon blossomed into two commercial vineyards and a tasting room, lovingly renovated from his former medical office.
Today, wine enthusiasts drive from miles around to experience the Shelby County estate wines, where every sip tells a story of dedication, community, and craftsmanship.
